ENGINE HEAD RECONDITIONING
Requires Quality

The Issues:
The frequency of top end overhauls results in costly downtime. Contracting out of engine head reconditioning to low bidders encourages the re-use of worn parts or installation of parts unsuited to engine service conditions. The repair of engine heads with inadequate equipment using outdated technology and repair methods results in limited service life. Lack of quality assurance standards leaves plant personnel without service history records required for predictive maintenance programs.

The Solutions:
Two major oil and gas companies chose Chinook to supply engine valves, fuel injection valve cartridge cage assemblies and head reconditioning based on consistent quality, technical support and quality control. This has resulted in extended engine head service life from 5,000 to 25,000 hours. In fact, a number of Chinook engine heads have run for 50,000 hours between reconditioning services.

Reconditioning:
Chinook Specification 5818 sets the industry standard. With over 25 years of experience and more than 20,000 engine heads reconditioned, eight-hour turnaround for complete sets of engine heads is routine.
