COMPRESSOR
VALVES
Offer Distinct Value
The
Issues:
Common problems associated with compressor valves in natural gas
plants include limited service life, high parts usage and costs,
availability of replacement parts, plant downtime due to maintenance
requirements, and the need for full-time maintenance staff. These
factors can negatively impact a companys bottom line due to
decreased cost effectiveness and competitiveness.

The Solutions:
At
many natural gas plants in western Canada, Chinook compressor valves
have provided benefits. At a major gas producers facility, a
dramatic improvement was achieved in service life beyond 25,000 hours
on high speed units and 40,000 hours on slow speed units. As a result,
personnel became available to work in other important areas. Other
customers have reported increased gas flow, reduced maintenance costs
and parts usage, and significant cost savings on replacement parts. |
A
History of Success:
Chinook compressor valves have a long and successful history of usage
in Canada and are recognized as the Industry Standard for use in the most
demanding of applications. Their engineered fine tuning allows for improved
aerodynamic flow giving increased efficiency and throughput. Reduced maintenance
is a direct result of this unique design. Chinook manufactures compressor
valves and component parts to any form, shape or specification as required
by the customer. All materials conform to N.A.C.E. specifications for
sour gas service. Chinook valves can be easily serviced by our customers
field personnel or returned to our Calgary plant for guaranteed reconditioning.
Discs,
Rings, Plates:
Chinooks Grade 2516 thermoplastic is our standard material for compressor
valve discs. Made of tough, durable material that is highly resistant
to chemical attack, its light-weight characteristics have allowed Chinook
to design a thick cross section aerodynamic disc which incorporates self-guiding
and self-seating features. The low mass of the Chinook compressor valve
disc enhances its ability to successfully withstand the shock loading
of liquids in the gas stream. Chinook Grade 2516 thermoplastic possesses
the ability to heal over abrasive matter while retaining its seal. An
ideal material for non-lube or mini-lube service, it can be used in operating
temperatures of up to 300°F. For higher operating
temperatures, Chinooks Grade 1616 high temperature material is recommended.
Spring
Buttons:
Our
spring buttons are designed to prevent direct spring
contact
with the discs. The buttons guide the spring, preventing deflection and
breakage.
Springs:
All Chinook Special Service springs are made of Type 316 stainless steel,
inconel or hastelloy. Available in standard spring rate progressions,
Chinook will engineer spring sizes to match your plant production characteristics.
Reconditioning:
Chinook has the largest inventory of compressor
valve parts in Canada, ready for immediate delivery. We can re-engineer
and re-manufacture your compressor valves with attention to plant operating
conditions to provide optimum flow and service life. Free pick-up and
delivery of overhaul sets are available.
